| | Description | One morning the people of Wemmicksville wake up to discover that they've all received gifts. Punchinello opens his gift to find a hammer; Lucia receives a paintbrush and set of paints; and Hans, the baker, gets a spoon. Nobody knows who sent the gifts, but each Wemmick receives the perfect gift: Punchinello likes to build, Lucia loves to paint, and Hans enjoys cooking. When a family of Wemmicks needs help to reach Eli the woodcarver, Punchinello and his friends try to come to their aid. Unfortunately, nothing they do seems to work. Only when they realize that Eli gave them each a special gift are they able to use those gifts to make a difference. This story will show kids how God has given them a special gift they can use to serve Him. | |

A simply wonderful addition to any family, school, or community picturebook collection Jul 14, 2006
By Midwest Book Review The sequel to You Are Special, Max Lucado's Your Special Gift features illustrations by David Wenzel and is a thoroughly entertaining tale of the "little people" of Wemmicksville and their awakening one morning to find they have each and everyone been the recipient of a perfect gift chosen just for the individual villager. Following Punchinello the builder, Hans the baker, Lucia the painter, Eli the woodcarver, and an extraordinary cast of fun characters as Your Special Gift as the Lucia, Hans, and Punchinello strive use their separate gifts to help a family in need. As they do so they discover their meaning in life and the most helpful way to contribute to others. A simply wonderful addition to any family, school, or community picturebook collection, Your Special Gift is very highly recommended to all young readers for its creative and unique message showcased with appropriately entertaining cartoon-style illustrations.

Wonderful book Nov 25, 2008

"mom to 3"
We checked out one of Max Lucado's book at the library and my kids just loved it. So we bought them some more in the series of the Wemmicks and they love to hear the stories again and again. The colors and illustrations in the books are outstanding.

Great, but not for tiny ones Mar 28, 2010
By Tammy Vickroy I bought several of these books to read to my first graders. They sat and listened, but the concepts were a bit beyond them. I'd suggest them for 3rd grade and above.

Only OK, but worth owning Jul 14, 2010

I have enjoyed Max Lucado's Wemmick stories for years now and often use the books to begin character discussions in my middle school literature classes. (Every middle school student needs to hear the message of If Only I Had a Green Nose!) That being the case I say with sadness that this new story seems weak compared to the powerful messages of You Are Special and You Are Mine. Worth adding to your collection? Of course. First exposure to Lucado's Wemmicks? Don't start here!

I love giving this book out for kid birthday gifts. The book promotes good self esteem and morals.
