Looking for great life direction - check this out Nov 06, 2007

Mother Angelica's book is wonderful. It's an easy read, informative, and best of all helps you understand the 'big picture' - in other words, she helps you to make decisions in a God-based manner...to think about how you fit into God's plans. It is a guide to living a Christian life. I highly recommend this book if you are struggling with any moral or ethical decisions - And, who isn't?

God loves Mother Angelica. I could not sleep until I finished the last page, about 4am the day after I got it! Mother Angelica is such a down to earth, here it is right in front of your nose type of woman. I wanted to see if she had addressed a certain subject, she did, & with her answers and many prayers...I am now re-united with some old friends. I'd had a following out with each of them over different issues. One amazing thought was that how in heaven's name was I to ask forgiveness from Christ, Our Lord, if I was not able to offer forgiveness to those who had hurt me. Here I have been saying the Lord's Prayer, but forgetting what "forgive us our tresspassess, as we forgive those..." The "we forgive those" is the part I think we sometimes forget, but Mother does not.
Mother Angelica's "Answers, Not Promises: Straightforward Solutions to Life's Puzzling Problems" might be a bit too honest for some...even I felt stung a bit by some of her "straightforward"ness...but I also had to admit that I ended up agreeing with almost every word. How I would have loved to meet Mother Angelica "in the day"...love that feisty nun!

Mother Angelica's practical, no nonsense style comes through in this book. It is what TV viewers have heard for years: timeless wisdom in a down-to-earth manner. This is a very helpful book, as she tackles some tough issues. Definitely recommended reading, for both Catholics and Protestants!
